CANDY R. WEI

Image

1525 × 2599Return to Collage Gallery
A mixed-media collage composed of torn paper pieces layered on a white background. The paper features hand-drawn or printed Asian characters in a grid format. Overlaid are repeated black silhouette figures of a faceless woman in a long dress, shown in various poses—standing, leaning, or upside-down—often covering her face. Circular black dots are scattered among the figures, and near the center is a grayscale image of a human head in profile with another figure inside it. At the bottom, faint printed English text reads, “is there a woman in this text.” The overall composition evokes repetition, introspection, and fragmented identity.
